Utility companies which claim that the Smart Meters are safe compare the Smart Meter to other household devices such as the microwave, which may emit much higher radiation. However, Dr. Karl Maret (an MD with degrees in electrical and biomedical engineering) says that the “biological effect” from a microwave oven versus a Smart meter is not the same. The microwave oven, when it is on, produces “continuous” radiation whereas the Smart meter is pulsed radiation. He writes “Peer-reviewed studies have shown that the differences in modulation patterns and waveforms can produce quite different biological effects,” such as the “selective release of calcium from cell membranes.”
From Dr. Meret’s letter to the CPUC:
Microwave ovens produce much higher power output but are not modulated or pulsed in any way. It is imperative to understand that it is the modulation or pulsation pattern that leads to biological effects at non-thermal power levels. Biologically-sensitive amplitude windows have been found at specific frequencies that lead to the selective release of calcium from cell membranes. However, above and below these unique power densities there is no observable effect. Pulses and square waves have the greatest biological impact because they produce rapid changes in voltage across biological membranes. Un-modulated carrier waves have little or no biological effect except if their power is sufficient high, such as in microwave ovens. Comparing the power levels between modulated and un-modulated devices. . . is thus misleading.”

Also, see this article in EMR Safetynetwork’s web site PG&E’s Big Confession which discusses where, by order of a judge, the utility companies are now admitting that the pulses will be tens of thousands of times during a 24 hour period, something they have not disclosed to the public or put in their RF informational sheets.

I think we need to persist, Donna. They can do this, but we won’t back down. Can you imagine if the CPUC and our elected officials got 100,000 complaints?
I’m calling Jerry Brown’s office tomorrow (and expecting nothing of course). If you can, let’s both do that. You may not have the support of PG & E and some officials in power, but we are supporting each other. That’s a mighty energy. . .

I did call Governor Brown’s office. They put the comment into a data base and don’t “capture” any personal info. So I just made the comment brief (opposed to Smart Meters because of health reasons). The person I spoke to said that we can enter a comment on the web site but we need to check “other” as Smart Meters wasn’t one of the listed choices.

I stopped a pge worker walking around in our community checking out smart meters that are not responding or collecting data to the cloud network, i asked him about these smart meters and guess what he said to me.” PGE is not responsible for these smart meters rolling out in San Francisco, it was a request by the PUC because SF was falling behind in the technology of collecting data from meters”. so the meter readers can be out of work and the people like me that are starting to feel erratic heart beats get killed for living right behind these Killer Meters….Smart meters are population control devices meant to reduce the population in the world. thats all they are and we need to fight back. lets put these meter shields on them while we rally. I make my own Wifi antennas for war driving and if i get like 100dbs from a wireless routers, that would make our day…but we dont feel the effects of that compared to my wall reading about 2950 mf from these Killer meters. we need to start fighting back because our protest only fall on deaf ears at the PUC meetings in the city meetings, the pile of problems people come in to complain about just piles up on their desk and then they go home and do shit. lets just do this simple fight by sheilding these radiations so it can be a lower emitting frequency than 2950 mf .the rest of you saying that these problems are not true. shut up and go away!
